Abstract

Prevalensi kondisi terminal dan angka kematian pasien di intensive care unit (ICU) dilaporkan terus mengalami penigkatan. End of life care (EOLC) adalah terminologi yang dipakai untuk mendeskripsikan dukungan dan perawatan medis yang diberikan kepada pasien dalam menghadapi akhir hayatnya. Tujuan EOLC adalah meringankan penderitaan baik fisik, psikologis dan spiritual yang dialami oleh pasien dan keluarganya. Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi perawat ICU dalam melakukan EOLC. Metode : Referensi yang digunakan dalam literature review ini merupakan jurnal hasil penelitian berjumlah delapan jurnal yang diterbitkan mulai tahun 2010 hingga 2015. Kata kunci yang digunakan dalam pencarian jurnal adalah : “end of life care”, “nurse’s behavior”, “dying patient”, “intensive care unit” yang dicari melalui CINAHL, pubMed, Ebsco dan Proquest. Hasil : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perawat dalam melakukan perawatan EOL dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor, yaitu personal perawat, pasien dan keluarga, serta lingkungan dan sarana. Faktor-faktor tersebut dapat dijadikan sebagai pendukung sekaligus menjadi tantangan dalam meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan keperawatan khususnya dalam perawatan EOLC.

Abstract

The prevalence of terminal conditions and mortality of patients in intensive care unit (ICU) reportedly continued to experience progressive increase. End of life care (EOLC) is the terminology used to describe the support and medical care provided to patients in the face of the end. Interest EOLC relieve suffering is physical, psychological and spiritual experienced by patients and their families. Objective: To determine the factors that affect the ICU nurses do EOLC. Methods: References used in the literature of this review is a journal the results of eight journals published from 2010 to 2015. The keywords used in search journals are: "end of life care", "nurse's behavior", "dying patient", "intensive care unit" were sought through CINAHL, PubMed, and Proquest Ebsco. Results: The results showed that nurses in EOL care is influenced by many factors, including personal nurses, patients and families, as well as the environment and infrastructure. These factors can be used as a supporter as well as a challenge to improve the quality of nursing services especially in the treatment of EOLC.
